The Tokaj wine is rightly referred to as the King of wines and the wine of Kings because in the past it was served in all royal tables in Europe.
Now The Wine Road of Tokaj with the centres in Malá Tŕňa and Veľká Tŕňa offers ten kinds of wines (among them the most famous is the two to six “barrelled” one called Tokajský výber), which are also highly appreciated abroad.

The special detail of the Wine Road are the cellars of Tokaj which date to the period of Turkish wars and to certain extent they were built as shelters against invaders. Some of them are carved 8 to 16 m deep into volcanic rocks.
